However strange it may seem, Metaphysical Realism was never accurately described, thoroughly defined or adequately studied, barring few works (mostly dissertaions and few small monographs) that went unnoticed. Metaphisical Realism was not made widely known to general public owing to oodles of various reasons, the most of those may be considered as negative. Thus, Metaphysical Realism was regarded as absolutely non-commercial genre lacking aesthetic and decorative aspects and, sometimes, too complex in its content and meaning, even stodgy in many ways, which makes it hardly presentable for public at all. These ungainly and similar labels were rapidly pinned up by most refined connoisseurs and "pure" art lovers as well as alternative (extreme) art form sympathizers and developers. And serious, "socially-oriented" art supporters are inclined to apply their own ruler to measure all the worth of the Metaphysics cast in Visual Arts. It goes without saying that from their standpoint this style is actually dead because it leads nowhere or, to be precise, it leads away from anything related to our reality, contemporary society with its needs, etc.
Though the most art gourmets used to conduct
such an exquisite research, evaluation and analyses of art work within
own scale of strictly traditional values, without going deeper if anywhere
else at all, not to say about a bare emotional perception,
under which absolutely anyone tends to fall when mental
grasp is loosened. |

With careless ease we might discard likewise tallies as being irrelevant and superficial, for as it's well known, NO serious research has even been made on this Art branch. And it appears to be quite wrong (but natural) course of events since the genre was not differentiated out from the huge host of art tendencies, there were neither exact contents to explore, nor boundaries to keep within such a study.... |
